Visitor and Family Information
Welcome
Villa St. Gabriel Villa’s team welcomes you and your family.
We are committed to meeting the needs of our residents and families both in the compassionate care we provide and in the information we make available.
Information provided in this section of our website is provided in an effort to help answer your questions.
Tours
Villa St. Gabriel Villa has suspended in person tours of the facility until further notice.
If you require further information regarding the tour please contact our Admissions Coordinator at 705-590-2580 at ext. 3336.
Visiting Hours
Visiting hours are from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
All families and visitors are asked to be respectful of these hours as many of our residents retire early and the noise levels affect their daily rest.
Special exceptions will be made for residents deemed palliative and alternative times will be allowed based on the resident’s prognosis.
Visitor logs will be maintained for a minimum of 30 days.
Scent Free
Villa St. Gabriel Villa is a scent free environment.
The purpose of this policy is to promote a healthier and more comfortable environment by eliminating the impact of scents and fragrances on individuals negatively affected by these. Patients, families and visitors should do their best to refrain from using perfumes and other scented products.
Smoke Free
Smoking is not allowed in the facility.
There is a designated smoking area outside the facility in accordance with the Smoke Free Ontario Act (2006) and the Greater City of Sudbury Bylaw # 2002-300.
Access to the outdoor designated smoking area is governed by our smoking policy which is available upon request.
Parking
We are very fortunate to be able to offer free parking to our visitors.
No parking is allowed on FIRE ROUTES (FIRE sign and hydrants). This will be strictly enforced by Maintenance Services. Please also ensure that family and visitors respect the handicapped parking spaces and do not park in front of the garbage bins.
Villa St. Gabriel Villa assumes no responsibility for damage or theft from any vehicle parked on its properties. It is recommended that vehicles be kept locked at all times.
Family Council
The Villa also has a Family Council.
This council, which is an autonomous family-led group, meets monthly and is assisted as required by the Social Worker.
The purpose of the Family Council is to:
- Allow families to give each other ongoing mutual support and encouragement;
- Help families learn about the Villa’s operations, policies and rules;
- Offer families a chance to express their collective concerns; and,
- Allow families and administration to form a positive partnership aimed at improving resident care.
The executive of the Family Council is elected annually by Council participants. Minutes from the most recent meeting are posted publicly in the Town Square and Open Forums are held when necessary to solicit further input from families.
Notes: Family members with specific individual concerns should speak to Villa staff and/or administration.
For more information about Family Council, please contact the on-site Social Worker.
