As part as a Canadian Gujarati Cultural Association of Northern Ontario (CGCANO) initiative to show appreciation to front-line healthcare workers in long-term care homes in Greater Sudbury, Manthan Patel, owner of Sudbury Chelmsford and Azilda and Dhiren Patel, owner of Quiznos South End location, donated submarine sandwiches for the staff at Villa St. Gabriel Villa on May 27, 2020. “We are so appreciative of the kind community support – Thank you!.”
Staff wore their healthcare superheroes t-shirts and some sported capes to bolster staff morale at Villa St. Gabriel Villa. “We are so fortunate to have a dedicated and loyal staff who are willing to go above and beyond during these difficult times. On behalf of the residents, we thank all of our healthcare superheroes!” stated Ray Ingriselli, Site Administrator.
For better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death or a pandemic us do part. Who could have guessed in 1949 the need to add an additional barrier to such a classic wedding vow. On Monday May 11th, Ida and Clary Gatien celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Ida is a resident of Villa St. Gabriel Villa in Chelmsford. Before the province shut down all non-essential visitations to long-term care facilities Ida’s husband Clary would visit daily, arriving at 4 p.m. to spend the dinner hour with his wife. Hearing the news of the upcoming anniversary the Life Enrichment staff of St. Gabriel’s Villa decided to make this a window visit no one would forget. Staff decorated the visiting window at St. Gabriel’s Villa, purchased flowers for Ida and invited Ida’s care workers down for a sparkling beverage to toast the special couple. Clary was able to deliver his card and read his wife a very special anniversary wish. An anniversary certificate was also presented to both Ida and Clary from Villa St. Gabriel Villa.
When asked what the secret to a long successful marriage was Clary shared that he simply found a good woman; very loyal and dedicated to her family and the church.
In this unprecedented time it is uplifting to witness the amazing staff in long-term care who more than ever are going above and beyond to keep families connected and residents engaged!
